This 5-day training course aims to provide Managers, Supervisors and all those who have day to day responsibilities for planning lifting operations with the necessary knowledge so that they can competently carry out their role as an appointed person. This course will include planning lifts, interpreting and applying sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the BS7121 Safe Use of Cranes, and understand of LOLER Regulations. Candidates are required to hold a CITB HSE exam passed and dated within the last 24 months.
Candidates who are experienced and do not require the practical training, can sit the 2 day Appointed Person course instead. If you pass the A61 Appointed Person course, and you currently hold a CPCS A40 Slinger / Signaller card, you will qualify for a CPCS A62 Crane/Lifting Supervisor qualification without any additional requirements.

The CPCS A61 Appointed Persons Course is divided into several units including the core units below:

This course is theory and practical based. Candidates will be required to pass both elements.
If you fail, you will have to retake the element you failed, and a charge will be made for this in line with our re-sit costs.
Renewals: The CPCS A61 Appointed Persons Course Certificate is valid for 2 years and after this, candidates can undertake a refresher course to maintain the certificate for a further 2 years.
