About IPAF Courses
Our 1 Day IPAF Operator course in categories 3A/3B in London is for individuals with operating experience who are or want to be responsible for using Cherry Pickers and Scissor Lifts at work. Candidates will learn the current legislation and regulations, accident prevention and control protocols, refer to machine manuals, and the driving and manoeuvring of MEWPS in a safe and competent manner.
Those without prior experience, may be required to undertake additional practice. As the course is physically demanding, we require candidates to be physically fit and in good health before booking an IPAF course.
Upon successfully completing our IPAF training course, including the written and practical assessments, candidates will be issued an IPAF certificate and PAL card valid for 5 years.

Our IPAF 3A/3B Course will cover the following topics:
- Introduction to IPAF and MEWPs
- Legislations, Regulations, Standards and Best Practice
- MEWP categories explained
- Structural parts identified
- Pre-use inspection/handover requirements
- Safe operating methods and hazards to be observed
- Issuing of IPAF Operator’s Log book
Candidate Entry Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be literate
- Must be physically fit
Please note:
Similarly, since the inspection, operation and use of MEWPs can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights / vertigo, giddiness / difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.
If you have any problems with literacy or language comprehension, or have any doubts about your fitness to use an MEWP, you must bring them to the attention of your employer. This need not preclude you from using MEWPs, provided your employer conducts an assessment and is able to put into place adequate measures, to take account of any difficulties you may have.
The IPAF Course is highly interactive. Candidates will take a multiple choice exam. If operatives successfully pass the test, they will then move on to the practical training and assessment.
Upon successfully completing our IPAF training course, including the written and practical assessments, candidates will be issued an IPAF certificate and PAL card valid for 5 years.
The CSCS test is valid for 2 years.
